Black Caviar: The star of Royal Ascot, the unbeaten legend
Through the flashlight of international sports media, numerous horseracing lovers watched the maverick Australian mare, Black Caviar, winning the high-profile Royal Ascot 2012 race, Diamond Jubilee Stakes, on June 23. It was a hilarious and exciting experience
indeed.
Surprising to note was the fact that the Peter G. Moody trained brilliant mare beautifully managed to keep her unbeaten record intact and added 22nd consecutive victory to her profile. What an awesome track record!
Black Caviar is honoured to be the only runner of this time with the highest number of consecutive wins. Some people even opine that she has some magical power in her legs that adjust to every sort of grounds and help her thrive convincingly every time.
June 23 was the last day of the gorgeous Royal Ascot event that began on 19th. A large number of Australian and European sport fans were present at the venue to watch the traditional way Black Caviar thrives.
The 14-runner contest began at 3:45 (GMT). Like always, Black Caviar was the 1-6 hot favourite candidate and all eyes were hinged on her.
Over the good course of 6 furlongs, the punters’ commercial icon demonstrated an outstanding performance and defeated her strongest rival by a head’s margin.
The competition was close enough. There came a moment when some spectators started feeling that the mare mighty lose, but all happened according to the expectations.
At the end of the thrilling event, the mare’s jockey, Luke Nolen, told, “I let her idle, that big engine shut down and I s--t myself duly. I thought she’d coast but when I relaxed she came right back under me. It took me by surprise. She nearly carted me
in Newmarket earlier in the week but she didn’t bring that to the races with her.”
The daughter of Bel Esprit out of Helsinge impressed all with her brilliant performance.
Since then, the veteran mare has been out of action. She has no scheduled entry in the near future. Perhaps, the trainer is preparing her for some mega event as he wants the star runner to keep her winning streak intact forever.
