Black Caviar all set to add the Diamond Jubilee Stakes victory to her record
Connections of, Black Caviar, are hoping that the rampant sprinter succeeds in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes over 6 furlongs at Royal Ascot on 23rd June, 2012, because she is risking her reputation and has more to lose
than to gain.
Undefeated in twenty-one starts, the brown mare is entering this prestigious event with high expectations, and an immense amount of hype.
Every move of this runner is being monitored, including her thirty hour flight from Australia, where she travelled in a body compression suit to avoid injuries.
Due to the fact that her racing record is perfect, the pressure is building up and the stakes are higher than before, Jeff O'Connor, Moody's racing manager, stated:
"There's nothing for her to add to on top of her record - we know she's a champion and she's unbeaten. If she was 17 from 21 maybe we'd be able to enjoy it more with the pressure off, but she's an unbeaten horse.”
O’Connor told the press that the trainer will arrive shortly, but Black Caviar’s team has been doing a terrific job in taking care of her and taking her through work-outs.
A number of things had to be considered when taking the horse abroad, but the team handled it well.
The racing manager said that the horse is comfortable at home, but the owners, G. J. Wilkie and Mrs. K. J. Wilkie et al wanted to bring her to Royal Ascot, and those wishes could not be defied, he added:
"The owners, it was their wish to be here and we thought the best way to get her here and win for them was to maybe dodge (Dubai), keep her at home and not have so many things out of our control - the travel, the tracks we wanted to use, various things
came into it.”
Where the daughter of Bel Esprit, out of mare Helsinge, will race in the future has not yet been decided, but the July Cup at Newmarket is an option that can be considered.
Entry in this race cannot be confirmed as the connections might take her the mare back to Australia after participating in the Royal Ascot.
