When the pleased jockey Peter Moody was approached by the correspondents for a post race interview, he was reported as saying, “This is a really special win for me personally.”
He further went on to say, “I spent three years at Randwick learning my trade under TJ Smith so it’s very gratifying. There are races named after TJ Smith all over Australia but this is the one.”
This was indeed a very exciting race since it was between the two champions Black Caviar and Hay List. According to the jockey, Luke Nolen, Black Caviar did not jump as he had wanted her too but still he was pleased that she was able to withstand the pressure
that ensued after Hay List set the pace ahead of her at the beginning of the race.
