Black Caviar ‘suits up’ for her trip to Ascot where she will compete in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes
The Australian-bred Black Caviar is en route to Great Britain to compete in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on 23rd June, 2012, where her arrival is anxiously awaited.
Peter Moody’s brown mare is undefeated in twenty-one starts, and will be aiming to add another one to her record.
The connections of Black Caviar are not willing to take any risks with her, and therefore, they are taking all the necessary precautions on her trip. The mare will be travelling with a special compression suit which will minimise the risk of injuries.
Moody explained this as he stated:
"We have taken advice from our vet and chiropractor and this mare has always been susceptible to soft tissue injuries, muscle tears and the like so we thought this suit might aid her as she is going to be standing in a horse box for 30-odd hours en
route.”
The trainer further elaborated and stated that the runner would not be at any discomfort, commenting:
"She has had the suit on here at home the last two weeks so she has got well and truly used to it."
It is often said that you can’t be too careful and the connections of this brilliant runner are not willing to take any chances.
There are two stop-overs in the 30 hour flight, one in Singapore and the other in Sharjah. Black Caviar will arrive at her destination on Friday, 8th June, 2012.
Black Caviar’s every move is being monitored. Racing Victoria posted on Twitter:
"Singapore Airlines SQ7297 about to taxi out with Black Caviar aboard. Cargo includes A380 engine and fruit & veggies! First stop Singapore."
Black Caviar is the highest rated sprinter in the world, and she recently triumphed in the Group 1 Distinctive Homes Goodwood at Morphettville on 12th May, 2012, racing as a favourite.
She won by 1 ¼ lengths ahead of the Mark Kavanagh trained We're Gonna Rock.
The G. J. Wilkie and Mrs K. J. Wilkie et al trained runner was whelped on 18thAugust, 2006, and began her majestic career on 18th April, 2009, when she competed in the 2yo Handicap at Flemington.
