Black Caviar to race in the Grade 1 Al Quoz Sprint and the Golden Shaheen on the Dubai World Cup night
The six-year-old Black Caviar, who is the icon of the Australian horse racing by just being behind the world’s best miler, Frankel, would route her way to the Royal Ascot after racing at Dubai. The mare of Bel Esprit out of Helsinge will be racing in the
Golden Shaheen and the Al Quoz Sprint on the Dubai World Cup Night on 31st March at Meydan.
"What racecourse wouldn't want Black Caviar? said Martin Talty, the Dubai Racing Club's international manager on Wednesday. "We are over the moon that she has been entered. If she contested the Golden Shaheen she would be running for virtually $1.8 million
because of a bonus put up for winning the Patinack Farm Classic last November as part of the Global Sprint Challenge. Everyone in Australia was desperately looking forward to her taking on Sepoy and if she runs in the Golden Shaheen then she would”.
Contesting in the Grade 1 Al Quoz Sprint that will be raced for five furlongs, Black Caviar will confront the Champion juvenile of Australia, Sepoy. The four-year-old colt is not to be taken lightly as he had only lost in one of his eleven career starts.
Four of the victories were in Grade 1 races. According to the World Thoroughbred Ranking, Sepoy who is owned by the Ruler and Vice President of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, was the highest rated three year old in eight years.
While Black Caviar leads the World Thoroughbred Rankings with 132, the second highest rankings, she has not missed on any of her career starts till yet, and again is testing the maintenance of her record by running in the two races on the Dubai World Cup
Night.
The Australian horse racing really needs some boosting, especially after the country’s former highest rated horse, So You Think was exported to Europe for the, 2011 season, and the Melbourne Cup was not a pleasant experience for the Australians either, as
the event was dominated by the European horses.
This is perhaps the first time that three Australian stars, Black Caviar, So You Think and Sepoy are contesting beyond borders on the same racecourse.
How much confidence, courage and self esteem will they be able to give back to their nation will get revealed on the grand racing night, the 31st of March.
