Black Ladies... or Men..?

Honest opinion please.. I'm an Italian girl who's extremely tired of my hair so my boyfriends ma said I should get micro braids. I like the idea because I love it when black women have it done, but would it look right on a Italian (white) girl? I don't wanna spend forever gettin' it done if I'ma just look like a hot mess.

I have seen them on a white girl before and they looked okay, but will they hold in your hair.... it's a lot of money to spend if they are just going to come right out

That would depend on what you look like. I've seen it on plenty of white or hispanic females that it looked good on.

Black woman get micro braid so they can give their hair a rest from perms and heat. It also allows us to where our hair down go swimming and,a quick wake up and go type of thing. So if you have strait or fine hair i don't understand the point.

It's hard to keep them maintained if you have very fine hair. But, try it, see how you like it. It may not last that long on your hair, though.

I mean micro braids are micro braids . Like  women that get micro braids on the regular basis investigate on who to go to do their hair. I personal feel  they will look cute , but it is going to take a long time  to braid themespeciallyy if your trying to get them really tiny.

Meh.  Takes a long time to get done.  Takes even longer to take out.  Scalp will itch like h**l for the first week or two.  Pain in the butt to maintain if you aren't used to them.  May cause severe hair loss around the hairline if not taken care of properly.  Overall, not really worth the hassle.

I would suggest big cornrows just to see if you like dealing with a braided hairstyle.

You're still going to have to take care of the braids. I personally say do what you want. I've seen black chicks who had braids that looked like a hot mess so I don't think it has anything to do with that.  And seeing as though many of us use Indian Remy hair (which is definitely not black hair) and only braid the hair near the scalp while letting the straight hair flow (called Tie Zillions), there's really no room to talk.

Go ahead, you should go to an African Braiding shop. They are the best at doing braids and they braid much quicker. It's a little expensice though but it's worth it...The average cost is between $120-$200+.

K, first of all what matters is YOU. If you think that you look beautiful in them, then keep them. If you think that you look like **** in them, take them out.

Yea, you should try it.  Just don't leave them in too long, they may become too tangled.  Also try to mix a color.  I have seen white girls do the black/blond mix which looks hot.  As far as trying to be or look black, I wouldn't care about that.  trying something new is courageous and I like when I see people imitating my culture, it is the biggest compliment :o)

I find it very hard to believe a Black women has suggested u get Micro braids, do you have white texture hair ? Micros involve hair extentions and many many many hours, double hours if u have white texture hair. SORRY i just Dont believe YOU !

The skin color is not what makes the hair style nice looking. It's your hair stylist and how you take care of it after you get it. If you get a hair stylist that don't know what she is doing it will look bad no matter what race you are. I have seen black and white women with micros. And micros is not just a black thing anymore, its a fashion thing. So get your micros but make sure you go to someone that knows what they are doing and before you choose anyone to do your micros make sure to ask to see their work on white women and black women.

You should definitely do it, I love braids on a girl. I had my hair braided almost halfway to my back last November. I cut it in May. But as soon as it grows back I'm gonna braid it again. It looks mad s e x y !!!!
