  1. How would you clean it if it was your bathtub?

Many tubs are fiberglass as well! Use Comet, Bon-Ami, whatever you prefer, and a scrub pad. Probably wont need paint after that. You can also use laundry detergent and bleach. Mix with warm water and scrub away.

  2. Mold is a problem on boats.  First clean as the others have suggested..     I've had good luck with muriatic acid.....yea, I know, it's acid, but it's used everyday to clean concrete.   Home Depot has it in small quantities.  It doesn't hurt fiberglass.   Good Luck!!!!

  3. Milton (used for sterilising baby bottles etc) is very good at getting rid of mould, and inexpensive too

  4. this is just mildew you should clean the areas with mold. this is similar to what i use which prevents the mold from coming back http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=dehum... they are very cheap and you should be able to by them in a decent hardware store or ebay just place them where the mold accurs

  5. Painting will not. I built houseboats for 10 years Theirs 2 things you can do? 1.Is to try using acetone if that doesn't work 2. Your gonna have to tape off the section sand and repaint.I had to do this more than once sorry 'bout your troubles.

  6. Paint won't stick to mold.  Get some Starbrite or other brand deck cleaner, and remove the mold.

  7. Painting over mold will not solve the problem as mold is organic and will break down and ruin your new finish.

Break out the elbow grease or an electric buffer with some light rubbing compound.  You might be suprised to find that after a good cleaning the boat may not need painting, as they usually have a strong gel coat finish.  If you have to paint, you will have to lightly sand the finish to give the paint a good surface to adhere too, I recommend a very light (200 grit) sand paper and doing it by hand, prior to painting.  Don't sand deeply or the gel coat will be compromised.
