Activision developing Black Ops: Declassified for the Vita
Sony announces the first Call of Duty game for their portable gaming console complete with online gameplay.
Sony’s Press Conference had plenty of new and announcements surrounding the PlayStation Vita with a number of titles revealed during the one-and-a-half hour long media presentation.
Although BioShock Infinite did not make an appearance, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale did while Black Ops: Declassified was teased as well. Declassified will be the first game in the hugely successful Call of Duty series to be announced for the Vita
and it will be interesting to see how Activision, the game’s publisher, approach territory that is new to them.
The game was announced as boasting a full-on first-person shooter experience, which suggests that the game is not a port of any other Call of Duty title. It also means that Activision and its developers will be building the game from the ground up. That
in itself is interesting because it will be one of the first triple-A titles to be developed by a third-party studio.
Declassified is set to not only deliver a single-player experience but it will also feature “seamless online connectivity”.
The game made a brief appearance during the Press Conference, however, one can expect much more information on the game in the ensuing months, until then it seems that everyone needs to be content with rumours and speculation.
As for the Call of Duty series itself, it seems that for the first time the latest iteration of the game saw a divide between gamers. Some seemed to have loved the new direction that Treyarch, the game’s developer, was taking the series, while others were
split between the ‘this is more of the same’ and the ‘it’s just another typical Call of Duty game’.
What did the reader think of the Black Ops 2 demo? Did it seem like the series was taking a risk or was it more of the same with just a change in the setting? Let us know in the comment section below.
It seems that everyone will have to wait for some time before Activision releases any screenshots or gameplay videos.
