I am half white and half black. My mother is white and of course my dad is black. Does this make me eligible for black scholarships?

  1. I think you could because it is very easy to prove your ethnicity. Besides, there's no harm in applying for one anyway.

You may want to check out this site for info:

  2. Most likely. There aren't too many white scholarships, but you'd be eligible for most of those as well.

I'm Hispanic (full Mexican) and most of the Hispanic related scholarships that I do only require you to have one Hispanic grandparent. Some don't even require me to be Hispanic at all! But anyway, for the vast majority of scholarships, you will be eligible for them even if you're only half. For those [VERY] few that wouldn't make you eligible, they would probably say something like "Only those of full African Descent may apply." But that chances of you coming across one is very slim.

Anyway, don't just limit yourself to the Black scholarships though. Some might just be for Minorities, specifically blacks and latinos, so check those ones out as well.

    Good Luck :]

  3. Why yes, yes it does. I find that when applying for scholarships, jobs, loans, etc... affirmative action is my best friend. I'm 1/2 asian 1/2 white and on ALL of my documents that ask my ethnicity, I usually put down south east asian/ pacific islander.

Just do whatever you think is right.
