Black Squares on the Screen

Question

At random, and in random places, little black boxes appear on the screen. Sometimes there is only one; other times there are as many as ten. Changing channels doesn't help and neither does turning the TV off, waiting a few minutes, and then turning it back on. Sometimes it happens for several days in a row; other times we may go for a few weeks before we see them again.
