Black bars on my hd tv?

Theres black bars on the sides of my tv shows that are featuring in HD. Is there anyway to diminish these black bars?

  1. Those shows are not in HD. If you look on guide it won't say in HD. Probably a local channel, as all day they are in standard definition although the nightly series are in HD.


  2. try to switch it to zoom or side stretch.  Depending on your remote im not sure what the button would be.  Maybe view???

  3. I....boy...hmmm...... i think i'm just gonna be nice.  i believe you're referring the widescreen stuff yah you can't change that..only in DVD movies and they give you the option in the menu screen.

  4. no, just keep it like that you will get used to it, don't zoom or fill the screen you will be distorting the image.

    change the colors of the bars to gray if you have to but fill the screen it does not look good...

  5. I thought you wrote 'black hairs'. I was gonna suggest it was made in Japan but I guess I need glasses. LOL!!

  6. They're kinda like the black bars that used to be on the top and bottom of the screen for a movie shown in a wide screen format but watched on a regular format tv.  It's becasue the screen intended for viewing is not the viewing size of the screen you're using.
