Black brown and white snake?

so i was at camp today and i saw a brown snake with white stripes and black outlinging the white stripes . and it was swimming in the water alos i believe it was trying to go on land . what type of snake is this and is it poisions . please give me details thank you

Need to know where you saw the snake to get a good idea (country, state or general area).  With that info others could take a guess.  Doesn't ring any bells for me.

Where did you see it? There are over 2700 species of snakes in the world, so can you at least say where you saw it? If you're in the U.S., none of the venomous snakes match that description. You probably saw a garter snake or ribbon snake.

it was a Milk Snake Not poison
