  1. The Black-Footed Ferret originally emigrated to the US in 1734.He came over from England with many German immigrants and landed in Phillie.Lacking enough miners who where willing to work in the coal mines of Pennsylvania, the Ferrets where given huge sums of money to fulfill the requirement. After years of working in the mines, their feet became black. After discovering this malady science, many years later, was able to also identify black lung disease. It was determined the Ferrets had cross-bred with the Yellow-Bellied Sap Sucker. This species is called the Black-Yellowed-Footed-Sap-Ferret-Sucker. The EEL is trying to spend $1,256,000,000 to buy the remaining habit for this species(200 sq.ft.) to preserve their existence. No one has ever seen one.

  2. I can tell you why it is important. For future generations to see them again. The rest go find out yourself.

  3. Ignoring the answerer above me, there are many people, I am sure, that have extensive knowledge about the beloved black footed ferret. I, myself, have many under my care. They make so-so pets but make a wonderful fur lining for the more expensive mink or sable coats.

If they are on the endangered list, it's news to me. Those little things breed like, well, ferrets.

the good news is that they are on a comeback.

there biggest problem was do to distemper. and the young are trapped and vaccinated now.

  5. First of all, here's a site with a lot of info on black-footed ferrets - http://www.blackfootedferret.org

Black-footed ferrets were added to the endangered species list back in 1967. Why? Because there were very few left in the wild. They're actually one of the most endangered species in North America.

It's hard to know exactly how many black-footed ferrets are left (there could be more in the wild they don't know about), but according to the above site, they estimate about 600 are left (and I'm assuming this includes captive and wild ferrets).

Black-footed ferrets' diet consists mainly of prairie dogs. Habitat destruction, poisoning, and plague caused the prairie dog population to drop, which then caused the ferret population to drop.

The Endangered Species Act was passed in 1973.

I think every plant and animal in this world has a special purpose and we should do everything we can to protect all living things and prevent them from becoming endangered or, even worse, extinct.

  6. I don't know the answers to any questions on there except the last one. All animals are important to save. They are living creatures and God's creations. They deserve life just as much as us.

  7. they make a nice coat

  8. They were actually classified as Extinct at one point. gone. zip. finished. Because of exactly that. Trapping and fur-hunting and deforestation

But many years later naturalists rediscovered them and they were taken off the extinct list. Same with the ivory billed woodpecker.

The Endangered species act was enacted in 1973, i believe and was passed unanimously and proudly signed by the president. That was a time when people cared :)

Now the bush administration is trying to repeal the meager ESA protections that do remain.

  9. ok, heres what you do. You go to a search engine and find out yourself. how can you expect someone on here to know all that?
