Black in America????

So CNN is doing a ground breaking documentary on being black in america? They sure aren't showing their favoritism in this election are they? How about white in America? Why do blacks think everything that happens to them is just due to racism? How about realizing that bad things happen to everybody. It is actually tougher to be white & middle class - no separate proms, groups, award ceremonies, no one cares if there aren't many whites in basketball, you get no special college scholarships for being white, and you can't get away with making fun of blacks but they can make fun of you.

If you are black aren't you getting tired of feeling sorry for yourself? When is it time for you to take ownership of your circumstances?????

  1. you really ought to be more educated on a topic before you speak.  you must be quite young

and btw, i am a white female over 30, before you think something else.

bottom line , its people like you that put labels on people, all due to skin color and that is where ALL the problems came from to begin with.

  2. The problems I see exist within all of the races. I refer to it as "ghetto": people who come from unfortunate, if not tragic circumstances and don't know better how to recover. Many DO recover and better themselves. Some refuse and create another generation of poverty and crime. I have seen all races cross these lines for the better and for the worst.

  3. Wow! Listen to the ignorant little princess complain about how it is so tough being in the white middle class. What's the matter? Daddy didn't buy you that new porsche that you soooo wanted? Did he buy you a used one instead? Awww, I'm so sorry for you. Don't you hate it when uneducated people rant and rave? Let me educate you dear: African-Americans have separate functions, magazines, etc. because they were denied access to the mainstream shows, magazines, etc., so they figured: "Hey, we can have our own shows, magazines, award ceremonies, etc. since the caucasians won't let us take part." Don't complain about blacks having separate "this and that" because your ancestors know a great deal about having separate magazines, organizations, t.v. shows, etc. Also, ALL blacks don't play the victim. Open your horizons and explore the world around you and will see this fact. Also, are you seriously complaining that there aren't enough whites in basketball? Are you serious?? You really do have too much time on your hands. How about using your time to volunteer and make a difference in the world instead of wasting time asking ignorant questions? Oh, and you say that you can't make fun of blacks? Sure you can. I'm sure you do it all of the time at your weekly kkk meetings, now don't you?

  4. I have taken ownership of my circumstances and that is something black folks have had to learn since 1525 when the whites first brought us here in chains to do their hard labor without pay. This went on til 1865. How many generations was that? about What is that? 15 or 16 generations since they were breeding and raping us at an early age as soon as a black child came on her period. After so called freedom segregation and discrimination was the law of the land until the sixties. and you think that after all this time that everything is equal and there is no discrimination. You dare to male accusations of favoritism and privilege against my people.IT IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH SUCH JUDGMENTS.

MILLIONS DIED ON THE MID ATLANTIS CROSSING MILLIONS. Did you know that the average of slaves brought to these shores was 15! 15!

    YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED .

  5. UMM..if you apply for aid at an all black college you can get Scholarships there.I'm white I just had some really decent black teachers!

  6. Look I am white---and the one thing I've noticed is that there is a LOT of racism going on.  Yes, things happen and not everything happens to blacks because they are black---but you know, if you are in line at a cash register with 10 white women and none has to show her id when paying with a credit card and you are black and you have to show your id when paying with a credit card---isn't that something to think about?  And if Americans are so liberal about blacks then why are they so unwilling to go to a black doctor if he has a reputation of being excellent?  Why do they rather pick a bad white one than a good black one?  And lastly, why is it that children of interracial parents get so angry when they grow up?  Could it be because the whites don't want them because they are black, and the blacks don't want them because they are "half" white?  I've been married to a guy in the military and I saw this happening over and over and over again.  And what about pay raises?  A black still makes only 75cents to the dollar a white makes?  So you think that blacks have no reason to complain?  I think they do---and I can only tell you that I watched the hurricane Kathrina documentary and after watching it I felt ashamed to be American---whites allow it too often that blacks get deprived and mistreated - they do nothing, and as long as they do nothing and just look on, that long are they prejudiced....

  7. My TV cable service does not carry CNN.  I am so glad.  I don't even have to worry about accidentally tuning in.

  8. Paranoid much?  I'm sure this documentary has been in the works for ages.   Certainly LONG before Obama became the likely nominee.

Phil Gramm was Right, there are a lot of whiners in America...

  9. Slavery was commonly practiced throughout all ancient history, but no other people in history owned so many slaves and depended on them so much as the Romans. Many Romans had slaves do their dirty and hard work for them. These slaves were bought and sold in the slave markets. Some slaves were soldiers who had been captured in wars, while others were the children of slave parents. If they tried to run away, they were whipped, burned with iron, and sometimes even killed. Slavery, was accepted as part of life in ancient Rome by the slaves themselves and by the society. Little credit had been given to the important contributions slave labor made to Roman civilization. However, slavery was both beneficial and disastrous to ancient Rome.

Today In Sudan, Africa's largest country, the Islamic Republic of the Sudan, as a result of an Islamic-vs.-Christian civil war, black women and children (mostly Christian) are captured in raids on their villages and sold as chattel slaves, sometimes, according to the UN in "modern-day slave markets."

The slave trade in Africa was officially banned in the early 1880s, but forced labor continues to be practiced in West and Central Africa today. UNICEF estimates that 200,000 children from this region are sold into slavery each year. Many of these children are from Benin and Togo, and are sold into the domestic, agricultural, and s*x industries of wealthier, neighboring countries such as Nigeria and Gabon.

During World War II, millions of Jews, Roma (Gypsies), Poles, other Eastern Europeans, and people of other nationalities and religions were forced to work under inhuman conditions in n**i industry as slave laborers. Many did not survive, and became part of the n**i Holocaust. Millions were tortured and killed.

No people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.

Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America?

Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Are you aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Are you aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Now, how many of you wish you were still in Africa? How can you be proud to call yourself African first and American last?

  10. "mad" is right, you dont have a clue about what youre asking.

and from the list of your other questions its clear you too are ...more than ignorant.

and by the way, you talk about all the "special traetmetn" what about ALL THE B.S. THEY STILL PUT UP WITH?????????? why dont you list that, i can guarantee that list will be longer than the nonsense you've listed here.

  11. I do not have to watch a documentary on being Black in America to know what it should say.  I certainly don't feel sorry for myself and long ago I realized my circumstances and took charge of changing them in spite of the systematic obstacles that were there just because of the color of my skin.  Half of my education was in a segregated school system and half in integrated.  As much as it might make you feel better to think that unwarranted racism it is a figment of imagination, you are as wrong about that as you are about a lot of things.  There was no separate but equal.  We received old outdated books that were being discarded by the white schools while they received new up-to-date books.  Then we were told that we weren't as smart and couldn't learn like white kids.  Well I guess you won't learn as well when it is meant to teach you differently.  When intergration happened the lie was revealed.  Yes, bad things do happen to everybody and when the same law doesn't protect everybody, bad things happen to the same bodys over and over.  I agree with you, it did become tough to be white and middle class when you could no longer afford to have Blacks clean your houses, raise your kids and mow your lawns and pay way less than minimum wage.  Some of  you were  trying to live a rich lifestyle while earning minimum wage because you still had Blacks working for you that you didn't have to pay a fair wage.  The misnomer is that we wanted to mix with the whites for proms, groups and etcs.  Not!  Only because that is what it took to receive equal.  Although I was young, I remember the social, moral, spiritual and hardworking structure of our Black communities during segregation.  As far as the number of whites in basketball, pick that bone with your white team owners.  They seem more concerned with winning than caring if you are please with the number of whites on the team.  You are also wrong about no special scholarships for being white.  There was a time when colleges was funded by the taxes of all but only allowed admittance to whites.  You can't get a better scholarship program than that.  Now that Historically Black Colleges are receiving a few tax dollars, any white attending there receives the same incentives of scholarships that Blacks receive at other colleges.  As far as making fun of Blacks, you may not be openly able to do it now but it was done enough in the past and there was nothing that could be done about it.  Blacks shouldn't waste their time doing it now.  But it is good to know that if it does happen, you have the same right to retaliate as anyone else in whatever way you chose.

And now after all that I have been thru, I will do what you said last.  I will take ownership for my circumstance after the glory that belongs to God.

I am not bitter because I have survived and prospered in spite of.  Paid for my own college education, own my own business, own three homes, after having attended private school all of her life, my daughter graduated ECU without debt or student loans just this May.  In other words, I've done and am doing quite well I'm happy to say, in spite of thoses like you.

    Be Blessed

  12. I see the prejudice everyday. Living in the "South" really puts a perspective on things. You can't say that its not there. A white kid with a lower score is admitted into college over a more qualified person has happened for years. All because of a stereo-type. A fear of culture.

White America built this country on oppression, plane and simple. Having been to two different schools, in the same town, where the curriculum is vastly different. The books are older in the predominantly Black school. With all of the facts set aside. i.e Property taxes support area schools, e.tc. You have a major disadvantage.

Blacks do not feel sorry for themselves. You can not forget what has happened. Confederate flags may be heritage, but it IS a symbol of hate.

Educate yourself and get out of your box.

      Peace, Love , Happiness!

  13. Everyone has different backgrounds, racial, spiritual, etc. In America everyone is considered equal. I have some Black friends, and I think the reasons they get upset is they still put up with some racism. Even White people put up with racism. Everyone puts up with it. The KKK still exists, in a country that suppose to be equal it is kind of sad that they couldn't abolish the KKK. But the point is they spent years in a slavery. That's like living your whole life in a prison cell. While I can only imagine, I do understand what they feel. Everyone wants to be treated equal, and sometimes they aren't always treated equally. Yes I get tired of people who live just to cry for help woe is me, but not everyone is like that. So the best we can do today is to accept people no matter the color of their skin and to treat them equal ourselves. That's the only way to stop racism is to treat everyone equal.

  14. Thank you for posting this!! i feel the same way. i saw a commercial for that and I'm like what the heck? that is so annoying. blacks wanted to be equal but they are not anymore, they get special treatment for everything. its really quite irritating.

  15. Political correctness and pandering by the media.

Will they focus on the ones that are successful....or the ones that don't try and blame the white man for their station in life?

After watching such programs during my life, I know which view they will be selling.

If I were black, I would be upset that the media always takes this approach.
