  1. 20 is a good bet.  Stand.

10 leaves you open for another 10 or an ace. 20 or 21

    15 Stand.

21 dealt at any time wins.

Then you're out of it until the next hand.

Insurance is a bad bet.  It favors the house.

You never bet all that much money at any time.

One easy system is to bet one unit if the count is less than 2, 2 units if the count is 2, 3 units if the the count is 3, and 4 units if the count is 4 or more. Remember a high count only increases your odds a limited amount.

<<<also if you have 21 on your fist hand like an ace and a king ... and the dealer has a 18 .. ( 10 .. 8 ) do they have a chance to hit to try to get 21 or do you win it ??>>>

If you have 21 with two cards (known as a blackjack) you win unless the dealer has 21 with two cards also.

If you have 21 with three or more cards the dealer will draw until he has 17 or more, so the 21 would push if the dealer got 21 also.

You may already know this, but just in case you don't, there is a difference between the running count and the true count. You always divide your running count by the number of decks remaining unseen to get a true count. For example, if your running count is 10 and one deck has been dealt out of a five deck shoe, the true count is 10 / 5 = 2.

You should also be aware that you also should bet differently depending upon the count. For example, you would take insurance if the count is high enough.

  3. If a dealer has 18 they cannot hit again. they must stop when they have 17 or higher. As a general rule if the dealer has less than 16 and you have 12 or more then you want to stand because more than likely(not always) but mostly the dealer will bust. it is all luck as to when you start betting high or if you feel the table is hot then go for it. Also if you are actually at a casino you can always ask the dealer for help. I always double down on 11 and split 10's.

  4. The count you are most likely referring to is the running count, to be able to alter plays and place bets you divide the running count by the number of decks left to give yourself, the true count which is basically the count per every 52 cards and has more of a mathematical signifigance.

Depending on the rules of the particular game a TRUE count of +1  to +1.5 will yeild a minimal winning expectation, anything higher than that will yeild a sizable positive expectation, provided you play your hands idealy.

This would be the time to bet, you should under the best of circumstances only bet when the count is high enough for you to expect to win money, otherwise you will just be losing money like everybody else in the casino.

If you have 21 on your first two cards it is automatically paid unless the dealer also has a blackjack where it is a push.

You have A LOT to learn as i can tell you havnt the slightest idea of how to gain an edge in blackjack, and i can tell you from personal experience that in your present position, you WILL NOT make any money playing blackjack if you entered a casino right now.  Invest the money into a book or go here:

There is much to be learned about counting cards than just the point values asigned to the cards.
