Question:

Black mold in my apartment?

I think my apartment has black mold, but I'm not sure what to do about it. It's a convenient place for me to live, and I don't want to move but they're re-caulked my bathroom and fixed the ceiling twice and this black mold keeps coming back. I clean the bathroom with Tilex, I scrub and nothing. Now me and my roomates all have been having respiratory and skin problems (colds, coughs, weird rashes) I've had headaches for hours and even days on end, until I've spent an hour away from my apartment. I'm losing clumps of hair in the shower. The other day I totally blanked out in Wal-mart for almost a half hour, standing in the same position. I just don't know what to do. Should I seek legal advice? Should I ask for a different apartment or hold rent or ignore it? I'm not sure what to do. Anybody been through this or have some advice?

  1. Try rubbing a bit on your inner lip to see if it has any reaction, if it has none try eating a little bit and see if that has a reaction, if you get no reaction its pretty fine and edible, if the mold does reaction with your lip open a window

  2. You can't say it's black mold until you have a certified mold expert to say it's black mold.

Mildew and toxic black mold appears the same to the naked eye.

You need to call the Health Department who can test the mold spores...however, if it is toxic black mold, understand that you'll be required to vacate immediately...as in, THAT DAY, and in my state, if the spore level exceeds a certain amount, you cannot take any of your personal belongings with you when you leave b/c they will be considered contaminated.

Don't waste your money on an attorney until you know for a fact what the problem is...right now all  you are doing is guessing.

  3. make your landlord clean up the mold by stripping down wherever it is coming from and replacing as well as calling in specialists.  in the mean time-- get out of there.

***do not put some on your lips or mouth!!!!

  4. Absolutely do not ignore it.  Black mold is very harmful to your respiratory system and if it's already caused rashes and such I would either ask for an apartment change or look for somewhere else.  Even if the apartment's a convenient place to live your health is more important.

  5. Your headaches and blank stares are the beginning and first signs of brain damage. Once toxic mold (stachybotrys) gets into your brain it causes severe brain swelling (toxic encephalitis) and the resulting damage to your central nervous system and wreaks havoc on your health to put it lightly. If you continue to live in this apartment i guarantee  that you will be close to death soon and you will grow more zombie like while your body and brain continues to deteriorate.  All your strenght will leave you, all your energy will be gone so your stuck on a couch 24hrs a day and every joint in your body will ache and provide no support.  Even at this point you will need atleast 3 years to recover and thats IF you get on the right anti fungal meds. If not on the right meds you will grow worse as your body will not naturally remove these toxins from your body. I dont mean to scare you but this answer is not a joke nor any part of it. YOU ARE LIVING IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. Your brain and all it governs(everyting) is dying as you read this.

Your landlord is responsible for putting you in a new place or hotel bills while they re mediate. However i suggest never ever setting foot in this apartment again as you will get just as sick as you are now if you do. When you leave this apartment take nothing with you, only clothes on your back that you will wash immediately. the toxic mold spores will be on everything and become 400x more toxic as they dry and travel through the air. Please contact with me as im sure you will need more help finding the right meds and more advice as you start to recover. My email is in my profile. God Bless you bro!

GET OUT NOW AND TAKE ANTI FUNGAL MEDS IMMEDIATELY!!
