I have some black smudge on my Yashica FRI that apparently is the rubber from the inside. How much will it cost to clean or repair?

  1. Hi Girlygirl.   Those black smudgy spots are probably the part of the light leak seals and/or mirror bumper that have gotten old, disintegrated and fallen out of the areas they are suppose to be in.   First,  all of that will have to be cleaned out... by using a solution that will cut through the smudge like water.  Not a problem.   Then,  all of the seals will have to be replaced.  You camera will get a nice blowing out and wiping off.  The tech will also check out the operations to make sure it is in ready-to-shoot condition again.   I am thinking it should not cost more than $129.00 if there is nothing else wrong with it.   What you ask for when you go in, is a general cleaning and service.  Have a great week-end and Thanks for reading!!!

  2. It shouldn't cost too much to repair, unless the rubber has disintegrated and needs to be replaced.  This still shouldn't cost too much.

I regularly have my old Pentax MX serviced, at a local repair shop, and the dude is very reasonable.
