Black spot near top of TV?

Question

I'm having a bit of a problem here...I have a Memorex 32" 1080i LCD TV which is about 6 months old and I just noticed a dark black spot at the top of the picture. From what I can tell, they're not dead pixels because it fades to the actual picture around the edges. Nothing has been spilled in it nor has it been touched or bumped. Also, you can't tell in the picture, but just above the black spot is a little patch of "clear" area where you can see some of the picture. Sort of like a "U" shape. Any ideas what could of caused this, or better yet, how to fix it?

It could be dead pixels, broken plates.  But with the tv only being 6 months out I would check on a warranty.  Call Memorex and see what they can do for you.
