Question:

BlackBerry Pearl is a lemon, what's the best Verizon phone?

I've had this p.o.s. For 6 months and I have NEVER had so many problems with a phone in my life. It CONSTANTLY erases all my texts and phone logs. I've tried all the c**p the techs and "pros" have suggested... Enough is enough. The hour glass situation, don't even get me started. The start up time... I'm done. I'm wondering which phone is the BEST Verizon has to offer and why so? I'm a little scared another blackberry will end up giving me tourettes as this one does and make me fight my insatiable urge to smash it into a thousand fullfilling pieces, but if its good, tell me about it. I would need it for the internet constantly, emailing, texting and storage. It would need exceptional access to websites (for a phone) and needs to be extremely quick. Any thoughts?

  1. Hey,

everything you listed sounds like an upkeep issue.  For all you are looking for, I couldnt recommend another phone, because it would require the same upkeep.

The upkeep is.....having an SD Media card for your photos, tunes and vids (the blackberries do NOT come with a lot of memory, like 64mb and under).  So if you are out of memory, your blackberry has to work harder just to give you the basics.

I feel your pain, and once I figured out the memory issue, the rest is easy.

Turn it off from time to time, do a hard reset sometimes, clean out your old and unneeded messages.

With a PDA, this is pretty standard, so maybe you dont want a PDA?

I feel like you should get your money's worth, and if you arent happy, maybe try something else.

  2. It CONSTANTLY erases all my texts and phone logs

that's because you have too many c**p on your phone. You should erase languages from the hone you dont need and some other unnecessary applications. Then it should be better.

And if you want to change phone i'd go with BlackBerry 8330

  3. well for the start up time, you have to be patient with that part about PDAs. They are like handheld computers! so they need time to start up.

now for problems with the phone, you should get another one, it may be defective! or just fidle around with all the phones at the store and see what u like the best.

I heard the touch screen competitor against the iphone from verison works really well. i forgot what it is called, but it sounds really great.

  4. The issues you describe sound like they are all memory related. Check out my blog entry on freeing up memory on the BlackBerry device:

After doing these tips perform a hard reset: remove the battery from the BlackBerry (while still powered on) for 30 seconds, then reinsert. I have used these tips and have never lost a message before. At one point I had over 2000 text messages and 500 e-mails on my device.
