BlackBerry Red Pearl Phone text messaging is being weird..help?

So whenever I text someone on it it has all these random accent marks on the letters and i don't know why it's doing that. and whenever i try typing in a word using the quick text when I hover over the word and click enter, some totally random thing shows up on the screen that isn't even a word! help!

Check to make sure it says "abc" on the top when you are texting and not the symbol mode.

If it continues, I would recommend re-installing the operating system. You will need to have the OS and Desktop Manager, both of which can be downloaded from your carrier's website.

That will create a clean installation of the operating system.
