Question:

BlackBerry and active sync with MS Outlook?

Have a brief question regarding the BlackBerry and ability to sync up with a MS exchange server. I've heard different things, some say yes it will work, others say no. The phone I have now is a verizon moto Q with active sync to connect to an exchange server at work and that's what I need it to do. I never read word or excel documents. Can someone give me a better answer?

  1. ActiveSync is for phones using the Windows Mobile operating system. The BlackBerry devices don't use ActiveSync.

However, they can sync to a Microsoft Exchange account. You would need to first add a BlackBerry Enterprise Server data plan to your wireless account. Then you can connect to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server via your job (if they have one).  Once you do that, your e-mail, contacts, tasks, notes and calendar will all sync wirelessly.

I am using a Hosted Exchange/BlackBerry Enterprise Server account from The Message Center and it works wonderfully. When I add a contact to my BlackBerry, it is automatically added to my Exchange account and I can see it in Outlook. The same thing if I add something is Outlook. It will automatically show up in my BlackBerry.
