Blackberry Curve questions?

I just got the blackberry curve, and I'm so confused!!!

I have a couple of questions:

How do I change the background picture?

How do I send a text message, everytime I try it says "No message services configured. You will only be able to Save Draft."

How can I get/change the ringtone?

The guy at T-Moble told me that the IM probably won't be up and working until tomorrow morning.

*Use a saved picture from your media photo's, menu key, and save as background.

*Your text message should have worked out of the box, when your service was activated.  Make sure your phone contacts have the area code saved with it.

* Change ringtone in your "profiles", edit the "phone ringer" and in the menu, change options (it will list other "sounds" to change to).

okay well the guy above me pretty much said everything i was going to say, except when i got that phone a few days ago it said the exact same thing for me when i tried to send a text message. it went away after a few tries so i wouldn't worry about it much. try having somebody send something to your phone and see if that works.

well to change your background picture u go to applications-media-pictures-preloaded pictures(highlight whatever picture u want then,,view it)-then press menu-and set as home screen image...
