Blackberry Pearl 8100 - Automatic message display?

Question

When I have my phone in its case, or even if the screen is off, if I take my phone out of the case or pick it up within 45 seconds of receiving a message (email, SMS, MMS, IM) , it automatically opens the message. Blackberry's website says this is a device feature, but is there any way to turn this off? It is really annoying, especially if I have my phone on quiet and just happen to pick up my phone to do something else with it after getting a message.

Currently there is not a way to disable this feature.
