Blackberry Pearl 8120 problems? (10 points for best answer)?

I just bought my new blackberry today, and the lady whom I purchased it from at the T-Mobile store clearly said I get instant messaging services such as AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc. Whenever I go and try to sign in it says "Service not enabled for this handheld" and in the upper right corner it says "edge" and "Wi-Fi" in black & white....

Another question is whenever I try and record video, it says "To record a video, insert a formatted Media Card"

So does this just mean I have to buy a different memory card for my phone b/c my current one isn't compatible?

  1. you have to go to aim.com on you computer to download the right program or aim. i think the same with yahoo. but not sure i did it for aim and it worked

    seacond question

just put the card it to your computer, load the d**k that it came with. then format it and you have to format the card then save the pic to the card and it should work

  2. You need an app to do it.

  3. Concerning your first question, the pearl does have those services, but they have to be activated.  At least that's what I had to do (I use AT&T).  I called AT&T and bought a "data plan" which provides me with internet service ($30/month for unlimited).  They walked me through step by step.  It took about 10 minutes.  When it's activated, "edge" will become "EDGE".

Also, "wi-fi" means you can access wireless internet with your phone, the way you would with a lap top.  If you have access to  a wireless connection you can add it to your phone in "options", "network" (I think, I don't use it).

Lastly, my phone (a Cingular phone) has a slot for a media card (i.e. memory card) right above where my sim card goes (above the battery).  I don't have one though so I don't know the specifics.
