Blackberry Pearl 8130, Unable to delete old data!?

I was attempting to sync my Pearl with Windows Media Player and now my media player on my Pearl will not respond when I attempt to play songs. I can see them on the menu, but it will not play them. I've have reformatted the SD card and the songs have been removed but their names are still on the menu and I can't delete them. In addition, new songs that I add to the SD card will not appear in the menu, only the older ones I deleted are shown. I can open the explorer in my Pearl and play them manually but not through the standard procedure. Any ideas on how I can reset this media player? Is there a setting I need to change?

Back up your data by synchronizing using the BB Desktop software  /

Wipe your device by going to OPTIONS/SECURITY/GENERAL SETTING/click the menu /select WIPE HANDHELD - follow screen prompts

This will erase the entire handheld so make sure your synchronziation is current.  This will erase all data on the handheld ad hopefully erase the titles in memory.
