Blackberry Pearl: Desktop Manager Help? "Device Not Found"?

Question

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 and I want to add applications and stuff onto it. I have a Vista, with regular USB ports and such... when I plug my Pearl into the USB it charges, but when I use the Desktop Manager program, and select "Detect" it says "Device Not Found". I don't get it! I've tried reinstalling the program about 6 times and it just doesn't work! Do I have to select an option on my phone or something?? HELP!

try  using a different usb port or cable  try a battery pull  then  hook up the device.  thats  what i do when it says my device is not found.  also  try to  make sure your  device drivers are up to date.  good  luck
