Blackberry Pearl Problems with calling? and addresses?

I have a Pearl, And when I Try to make a call from my Call Log +44 appears before the number so it wont go through. Also with my addresses if I have a number entered into my address book and I get a text from that number the name shows up in the messages but not in my call log so I never know who calls me, or opposite so i dont know who texted me. its very annoying! Help anyone?

I think you need to edit the following setting in order to have the correct country code selected:

Phone > Options > Smart Dialing and set it to the correct Country Code (+1 for US).
