Blackberry Wifi?

Is it possible to buy a blackberry handset which has wifi, and use it as a pda, get on the internet, instant messaging and things, WITHOUT getting the blackberry service. If i have wifi in my house, then to use it just for the internet? thank you

You can get on the Internet and use the Wi-Fi browser on the BlackBerry. As far as using instant messaging applications you would need to use one that supports the chat via Wi-Fi. I suggest using JiveTalk from BeeJive.com as their client supports Wi-Fi connections. JiveTalk is a multi-protocol client so you can chat with Yahoo! Messenger, GoogleTalk, AIM, Windows Live Messenger, ICQ and MySpace.
