I downloaded the microsoft live map for my phone. I am trying to enable the GPS for the map feature. I tried to center on GPS and it says cannot locate use last known location. I click on yes and it goes to Compton, California. I live in ohio and have never been there. I called verizon and they said they don't help with third party maps. I have my GPS set to location on. In the help screen for GPS it says you can find your location by going to advanced options and hit the menu key. It then says click refresh GPS. I do not have that option on my phone and I refuse to pay 9.99 for the VZ navigator. How can I enable my GPS?

  1. There isn't a way to enable the internal GPS on Verizon BlackBerry devices without subscribing to their VZNavigator service; they disable it until you do.

The only other option you have would be to purchase an external Bluetooth GPS receiver and pair it with the 8830, then use that for GPS functionality. It would cost more up front, but then you could avoid having the $10/month extra fee.
