Blackberry messanger problem?

I got my blackberry curve a couple weeks ago. When I try to get into blackberry messanger it says "Please enter your name as you would like others to see it" I press "Ok" Then it says "Your name cannot be empty". It does this over and over again, without letting me enter anything. I've already tried resetting my blackberry by taking out the battery. Is there anything else i can do?

You need to scroll up to the name section and start typing something in. In most cases you don't even have to scroll. When it comes to that screen, simply type in your name, then press the track ball. It is that simple.
