Blackberry messenger problem...HELP!?

I'm trying to get blackberry messenger to work. But every time I try and request someone I put in their PIN (it doesn't let me do email?) and then once I put the PIN in and request it they don't get it it just says their PIN and then it says its "pending" but they never get the invite. I don't have an internet plan on my phone but my mobile network is turned on. What's wrong/ do I have to have the internet plan on my phone?

You must have the blackberry data plan for the messenger to work.

You need a Blackberry data plan.  Your network provider should be able to give you details and costs.
