Blackburn Rovers News: Steve Kean dreams of a top 5 finish, defender Phil Jones injured
Blackburn Rovers' care-taker manager Steve Kean is dreaming to finish in the top 5 in the English Premier League at the end of the season.
Kean took over the 1st team management duties after former manager Sam Allardyce was sacked by the club’s new Indian owners.
A few prolific names including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Maradona-c11160 and Alan Shearer have been linked with Rovers' job; however the final name has yet not been decided by the club.
Until a name is finalised, Steve has vowed to continue to act as the manager and has also expressed his desire of retaining the job on a permanent basis.
The Indian business tycoons have announced that they will make a sum of £5 million available for the manager to spend in the upcoming January transfer window.
The 43 year old Steve said, “If we have a full squad and £5m, I am confident we could finish above 10th. But we need to sit down and see how the £5m breaks down. Can we finish in the top five only spending £5m? It is fair comment if everyone is fit. That
has slightly changed because we have a few injuries.”
Meanwhile, Blackburn defender Phil Jones is out of action for at least 3 to 4 months because of an operation on his right knee.
The club’s doctor Phil Batty said, “http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jones-c29903 had keyhole surgery to repair the tear to his cartilage. The operation went successfully. The rest of the knee looks fine and he'll now begin his rehab which should be three to four months.”
Jones suffered the injury during his team’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United. He came off the bench in the 57th minute to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212 but could only last 10 minutes before being substituted.
Phil has been a youth player for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 since 2002 and it was this season when he got promoted to the senior team.
The 18-year-old has been a revelation since his introduction to the 1st team. He started every league game this season, prior to the match against The Hammers, and formed a formidable defensive partnership with fellow centre-back

The Riversiders are currently lying in the bottom half of the table on 12th place, with 22 points from 18 games.
Their next match in the Premier League is against 13th placed Stoke City at Ewood Park on 26th December.
