Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce hails hat-trick hero Mame Biram Diouf
The 22-year-old on loan striker, Mame Biram Diouf scored all three goals for the Rovers in their 3-1 Carling Cup second round victory over the Norwich City. It was the striker’s first hat-trick in England as he only made it back in January 2010.
Diouf became a Manchester United player back in 2009 when the club agreed the fee with Norwegian club Molde FK. However, the player was loaned back to the same club, only to join United a year later in January 2010. Mame comes from the same club as Manchester United legend and current reserves manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The player scored on his home debut for the Red Devils. However, owing to the availability of many other striking options, Diouf along with Danny Welbeck were loaned out in order to give them more experience of the English style of play. The player only made 5 more appearances with United but was not able to score any more goals.
After completing his loan move from United this month, Diouf made an impressive start with his new club. The player made two substitute appearances in the premier before Sam Allardyce handing him his first start in the Carling Cup. The striker handsomely rewarded the manager for his faith in him as he scored a magnificent hat-trick to plunge Rovers into the next round.
The Senegal international opened the scoring, owing to a neat header in the 29th minute. It was the player’s first goal in nearly 7 months and he celebrated it in style. Diouf was impressive whenever he had the ball at his feet and found the second goal in the 79th minute. Diouf got the ball in the six yard box and managed to find the back of the net from close range. The striker was not done yet as in the dying moments of the match, Diouf completed his hat-trick. The Senegalese nodded the third one home to complete his first ever hat-trick in England. The player may have increased his tally as he got various other opportunities to score, but failed to convert them. Diouf hit the post from close range which could easily have been his fourth.
The manager, however, was still more than happy by the player’s performance."We made hard work of it to be honest," claimed manager Sam Allardyce. The manager added that he believed his side made many opportunities to get the deciding goal and their hard work paid off to get the second goal. Sam claimed that his side managed a very good performance and a comfortable victory.
While talking about the team’s hat-trick hero, the manager claimed that Diouf managed to score three brilliant goals but may well have increased his goal tally. Sam added that the easiest chance that he made a mess of was when he headed the ball right into the post which denied him a chance to score one more. Nonetheless, the manager stated that a hat-trick for any of the players in his squad always encourages the entire squad and hoped that the 22-year-old can continue his goal scoring form in the Premier league as well.
The manager praised the player’s ability to get in the right position at the right time to score three goals. The manager explained that for the first goal, Diouf managed to stand unmarked at the far post and then expertly waited to flick the ball in. As soon as the ball was in the six yard box, the player made enough ground to reach the ball and tap it in expertly. Sam thus claimed that Diouf had all the makings to be a lethal striker. The manager added that the player looks like a natural goal scorer as he knew how to get into the right positions at the right time and such a skill is not learnt from any coach. The manager believed that if we do get the ball in the six yard box, Diouf manages to stay unmarked and that is something which is very rare to find.
