Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 boss Steve Kean confident of improvement, looks forward to appointment of assistant manager
Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean insisted he would turn things around at the English Premier League club after a horrific start to the new season. The Scotsman is preparing for another meeting with the club owners, Venky’s, but revealed it was no cause
for alarm.
According to Kean, the owners held regular meetings with him over the happenings of the club so they would be better informed. He revealed that despite popular belief, he had never been summoned by the club owners, but had been having meetings with them
since he was appointed manager of the club.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“I come here once a month to sit down with the family and talk about all aspects of the club and the games, the development of the younger players, the integration of the new players, what we want to do in the next transfer window, the funding of that.”
Kean’s only achievement since taking charge of the club is the fact that he managed to avoid relegation last season. Other than that, he has not been able to improve the squad in any way since the departure of former manager Sam Allardyce.
The Rovers have started the new season where they left off the previous one, at the bottom of the Premier League table. After the opening seven fixtures, Blackburn Rovers remain second from the bottom, with just four points to their name.
A section of the supporters have gone as far as to call for Kean’s removal, with a number of “Kean Out” banners seen in the 4-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend. The manager felt the protestors were only making things harder for the players, especially
the younger ones.
Kean does not have too good a record with the team since taking over in November of last year, especially at Ewood Park. The only victory at home, which was a narrow 4-3 win, this season came against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, but the Scottish manager urged everyone not focus
on statistics but rather on the performances.
He said:
“Because I know people will throw stats and if it is only about stats and winning games then it is going to be hard for young players to develop.”
With assistant manager John Jensen having parted ways with the club, Kean revealed the search was on for a replacement. He admitted he was currently in the process of helping select the next assistant manager and revealed he expected a number two by the
weekend after the international break.
Kean revealed:
“I've received a few CVs and lots of calls. I have spoken with the family at length and the person I want to come in will be the person who will be sat in the dugout beside me, so that's very positive.”
