Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has revealed he believes defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212 can return to his best once the winter transfer window closes on Wednesday.
Samba handed in a transfer request in January claiming he wanted a move away from Ewood Park since he wanted a fresh challenge. Apart from that the Congolese central defender felt he had been deceived by the manager and the club owners.
The transfer request however was rejected by the club and so were the offers from other Premier League clubs, with the manager claiming Samba would stay on with the Rovers until the end of his contract, which is set to expire in a few years.
Kean revealed that while Samba was determined on a move away, the club had not accepted the transfer request which is why they could hold the player. The Scottish manager admitted that the side needed Samba to stay with them and help them survive the rest
of the term.
Kean said while speaking:
“We want him to be part of the club, he signed a long-term deal and we want him to get back on it and get his head around the fact that he's going to be here.
In the last window and windows before that, as soon as it closed and he got his head around being here, his performance levels were excellent.”
Samba was initially linked with a move away in the summer transfer window but Kean and the new owners Venky’s managed to convince the player to stay. He was even given the captaincy in hopes he would commit his long term future to the club.
Unfortunately for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385, Samba has made it clear he will not give a 100% for the club if he is made to stay with them past the winter transfer window. Kean however will remain hopeful that the player continues to do well for the club as they look to
take on Newcastle United tonight.
He continued:
“I know he's put in his request, I'll need to speak to him tomorrow once the window is closed and say 'We need to move forward now, we need to get you back in the frame, we need to get you mentally prepared properly and there are no physical problems'.”
