Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has revealed he has had to keep a bodyguard after the growth in resentment from a section of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 supporters.
After a terrible start to the season Steve Kean and the club’s owners Venky’s have come under severe criticism. Unfortunately for them, it didn’t stop there. Kean has suffered abuse from supporters on and off the pitch and it is now believed his life could
be in danger.
A section of the supporters went as far as to organize protests against Kean and Venky’s before, during and after matches at Ewood Park. The protests disturbed not only the manager, but also the players who urged the fans to stop with their unnecessary complaints.
Many managers and players have condemned the protests and the abuse, which had to be banned by the club after it got out of hand. The Scottish manager revealed he had been warned by friends to keep a bodyguard, an advice he had taken  up after a rather close
encounter with the angry protestors.
Kean said in an interview:
“I was advised that it would be in my interest to have somebody with me at all times.
I was at a restaurant with my wife and children a few months ago and got a text message from a friend telling me to be careful.
There was stuff going out on Twitter from an activist group which identified the restaurant so that people could confront me.”
Kean has now taken up a bodyguard, who remains with him at all times, according to the Blackburn Rovers manager. He revealed:
“The chap who protects me is a seventh dan in karate, but he is not big or butch or anything. He knows how to handle himself.”
While Kean is aware he is at danger from some of the Blackburn Rovers supporters, he revealed he was certain most of the fans supported him in decisions.
Kean continued:
“I think the vast majority of fans are passionate, but non-violent, whether towards me or anybody else.
I also think most of the Blackburn fans are behind me.”
