Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-Robinson-c29389 deserves a place in the England squad after a brilliant performance against Aston Villa in the 1-1 draw.
Robinson was undoubtedly the best player for Blackburn Rovers as he singlehandedly stopped shots from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national squad for the upcoming
2012 Euros.
The English stopped had pulled out of the friendly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hungary-c2920 in 2010, retiring shortly after. Since then he has not featured for England in any competition and seems to have no plans to return to international action any time soon.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“If it wasn't for his performance in the first half the game could have been beyond us. He made crucial saves in the first half and played his part in getting us back to our usual standards.”
Robinson on the other hand is currently focused on Blackburn Rovers and maintaining clean sheets which will help his side climb up the Premier League table. They have so far been unable to keep a clean sheet in 26 Premier League appearances, a new record.
After the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers take on lowly sides Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bolton Wanderers in the English Premier League. The upcoming fixtures will be the perfect opportunity for Robinson to attempt at maintain clean sheets
to help his side avoid the drop zone at the end of the season.
Robinson said in an interview:
“As a keeper the lack of clean sheets is hugely frustrating. During a season you normally fluke one, usually in a rubbishy game.
But we've not even had one of them. We had about 11 last year and now not one.”
Robinson urged the protestors to support the team and help make Ewood Park into a place which others team would fear.
He continued:
“We need to make this a place that teams don't like coming to.
When I was at Tottenham and Leeds this was one of those places where you'd be happy if you got a point.”
