Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean to convince players to sign contract extensions
Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean revealed he was currently planning to convince some of the current players at the club to sign long-term contracts. There are certain players who are set to run out of contract in the near future and the Blackburn Rovers
manager said he was looking to retain their services, which is why he wanted them to commit their future to the club.
Kean has been in talks with the Blackburn Rovers owners Venky’s over issues regarding the club and revealed the most important issue currently were contract extensions. After a quite start to the summer, Kean made a list of signings to strengthen the squad.
It became fairly obvious that Blackburn Rovers had to bring in reinforcements, which is the main reason why Kean wants some of the players to commit their long term future to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385.
While the Blackburn Rovers manager did not mention any names, the players are believed to be goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jason-Roberts-c17973. Most of the players mentioned have just a year or so remaining on their current contracts, after
which they will become free agents and the club will not benefit in any way from their departure.
Kean said in an interview:
“It's just really to start discussing the contract lengths of the lads who don't have too long left on their contract.
It's just getting ourselves in a position where we can really come back and the lads I identify with the owners who should have extensions, I think we can get that started so we don't find ourselves in a situation where people's contracts are running
out.”
With the exception of Givet, who is 29 years old, the rest of the players are in their thirties. Some of them could be expected to part ways with the club in a season or two, in which case it would be to extend their contracts to ensure the club makes some
money while offloading them.
Even if they plan to finish their careers at the club, Kean would feel better if they agreed to sign a contract extension. The lot of experienced players will be expected to help lead the club out of the terrible start to the Premier League, which sees them
at the bottom of the table with 0 points.
