Blackburn Rovers chase Juan Roman Riquelme
Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Boca-Juniors-c38658 midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme.
Blackburn is going through a transitional phase at the moment, with new owners Venky’s making sweeping changes since they bought the club in November 2010. The Indian poultry giants have made no secret of their desire to transform Blackburn into the next
power in English football, and it seems that they mean business.
Since their 43-million-pound takeover of Blackburn, Venky’s have been trying to procure the top talent in world football. The club has been linked with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 international
Riquelme their new target.
The man who masterminded Jermaine Jones’ move to Blackburn, Barry McIntosh, admits he has opened discussions regarding a deal for Riquelme. He said, “I have spoken with Jerome Anderson, who is doing a lot of work for Blackburn Rovers, about Riquelme and
it is being thought about. He could prove a great alternative to Ronaldinho, but there is nothing definite yet.”
Even though Riquelme is now 32, the Argentinean is still one of the best players in South http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 today. He also has experience in Europe, playing for Barcelona and Villarreal from 2002 to 2007.
If Blackburn are successful in their pursuit of the Argentinean, it will be a huge boon for the club. Riquelme is not the player he once was, but he still has enough talent to make an impact in the Barclays Premier League. He can also bring a wealth of experience
to the young Blackburn squad, something that might prove to be invaluable for the Rovers as they aim to work their way up the Barclays Premier League standings.
It seems unlikely that Riquelme can be lured away from South America, especially since he plans to end his career with Boca Juniors. But Blackburn’s new owners have already proved that money is no object, and might just make the Argentinean an offer he can’t
refuse.
We will find out more about Riquelme’s future in the coming weeks.
