Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212 praises four goal Yakubu
Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba revealed he was confident striker Yakubu could go on to score 20 goals this season, having already reached the ten goal mark in all competition, with nine of those goals coming in the English Premier League.
Samba, who was set to leave the club in the summer transfer window, remained with the club and has shown that he is one of the most important players in the Blackburn Rovers squad. According to the central defender, Yakubu would go on to be a crucial part
of the Rovers campaign.
His statement came after the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 striker scored four goals in the win over Swansea City, giving them an important win and much needed points. According to Samba, no one at the club was surprised by the fact that Yakubu had somewhat singlehandedly
given the Rovers a win.
Samba said while speaking to reporters:
“What Yakubu did for us is no surprise to any of us at all. We know if you give the ball to the Yak he is going to produce something on the right spot for you all the time. It is no surprise at all he got four and we are very happy for him.”
If Yakubu continues the way he is going then he can undoubtedly match the likes of former Blackburn Rovers striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roque-Santa-Cruz-c31778 and Benni McCarthy. The aforementioned strikers both reached the 20 goal mark in their time at the club and Samba was confident
Yakubu could do the same.
He revealed:
“I have no doubt he can reach 20 easy this season, no problems. We just have to make sure every time he scores we keep the back door shut and win games that way.”
The defender revealed the Nigerian forward enjoyed his football and was always happy in training, apart from when he didn’t get the ball. He revealed that even though Yakubu barely scored in training, he was fantastic on the pitch.
Samba continued:
“On Saturday he scored four goals and he never scored in training all week so we have to stop him in training all the time.”
