Blackburn Rovers defender Grant Hanley confident of regular football
The Blackburn Rovers defender Grant Hanley revealed he was enjoying his time at the English Premier League side especially with the competition for places. He admitted he planned to use that to his advantage to improve his game and try and become one of
the best defenders in the game.
The 20-year-old is a graduate of the Blackburn Rovers youth academy, joining the senior team in the 2010 season. So far he has made 12 appearances in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers, with seven starts coming alone this season for Hanley.
The reason why Hanley was given starts by manager Steve Kean at the beginning of the season was the absence of central defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212. However, with Samba having returned, Hanley finds himself on the bench once again.
However, the youngster was confident he had had more than enough time to prove himself to the manager and would continue to do so in the future. He also believed he would soon be in contention for a place in the first team. Hanley said while speaking to
reporters:
“The quality of centre-half that we have got at Blackburn is very high; you can name a long list of good defenders here and battling for places.
I don't look at it as though they are in my way, though; I actually think it is good for me. It is a challenge because I have to look up at those players after everything they have achieved.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756 international has had a brilliant chance at Ewood Park to develop as a player, receiving help from the coaches as well as the other players. He praised the older players who had been very helpful to the younger players, like him.
He revealed:
“Everyone at Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 is brilliant with us younger lads. The older lads are brilliant with helping us with bits of advice.”
He admitted he was surprised at getting as many starts as he had gotten, but revealed the experience had been really good for him. Hanley continued:
“I never really expected to play many games this season but I have played a few games already and that has been good for me.”
