Blackburn Rovers have released a statement claiming they were not willing to part ways with skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212 in the winter transfer window.
The Rovers manager Steve Kean had blocked the 27-year-old from leaving the club in the summer transfer window, insisting the player would remain with the club. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly interested but failed to sign the talented
defender.
Once again, with the January transfer window having approached, Kean claimed that the Blackburn Rovers captain would remain with the club until the end of his contract. He claimed that they would ignore offers from rival Premier League sides.
However, Samba went on to hand in a transfer request. The centre back claimed he felt it was time for a fresh challenge and that he felt he had been lied to by the management at the club. For these reasons, the Congolese defender felt it was time to move
on.
Sources reveal that Blackburn Rovers remain determined not to let Samba leave and have already turned down two offers from an unknown club. The club released an official statement according to which they claimed they expected Samba to remain with the club
until the end of his contract.
The statement read:
“Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Samba is not for sale. The player signed a new contract with the club less than a year ago which runs to June 2015.”
Meanwhile Samba remains keen on a move away from the Rovers, who have been in terrible form this season. They are favourites to face relegation at the end of the season and Samba seems to wants an exit as soon as possible.
Samba said in an interview:
“In my five years at Blackburn Rovers Football Club I have always given 100% in every game I have played. I have had several opportunities to leave but I have always stayed.
I have decided now is the right time for me to pursue a new challenge and I have asked the club to respect my decision and allow me to leave.
I thank the fans for their support and I hope they feel I have served them and their club well.”
