Blackburn Rovers lead Manchester United 1-0 at half time – English Premier League news
Manchester United were made to work hard by Blackburn Rovers, as the home side took a 1-0 lead into half time.
United came to Ewood Park looking for just a draw to lift the premier League trophy. However, as things stand, they would have to work hard to get at least a point from this game. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brett-Emerton-c8045 put the home side in the lead and it can prove to be an integral
goal in terms of their relegation battle.
Manager of Manchester United Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 on May 28, 2011.
Manchester United have not had a great time in the ongoing 2010-11 season playing away from home and once again they looked weary.
The starting line up was a strong one with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 started in centre of attack.
Edwin van der Sar was rested and Thomas Kuszczak was in goal. The number two goalkeeper for United did not have the best first half. There were a number of instances when he was caught off guard.
Nani had a great chance in the first few minutes to put United in front. From a Wayne Rooney cross he deflected the ball goalwards but it bounced off the cross bar and went out for a corner.
A 4-4-2 formation for United did look to be working well in the first few minutes and had Blackburn on the back foot. However, the home team grew in stature and confidence as the game went on. At one point, Kuszczak misread a back pass and took a moment
too much to take the kick. Vidic intervened quickly to clear the ball as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 front man moved in to take advantage.
It was in the 21st minute when Brett Emerton knocked in the only goal of the half. The Aussie retrieved the ball from goal line which at first glance looked out. His cross was deflected by Kuszczak but it fell to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Olsen-c24422 who played a neat
one two with Emerton and let in the Australian to knock it into the back of the net.
Manchester United tried to respond instantly with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 leading the move. Valencia got the ball on the wing and played in a terrific cross which was headed wide by Hernandez. Wayne Rooney was next to have a dab but once again, he was off target.
The final 15 minutes or so saw United pump up the pressure but were unable to get the goal. Second half may see them come out with a new vigour to at least get one goal and lift the Premier League trophy.
