Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean revealed he was not too concerned with the speculation surrounding his future as manager of the club and was certain his side would overcome their poor start to secure a spot in the top half of the English Premier League
table.
After a poor start to the 2011-2012 English Premier League campaign, it emerged that some Blackburn Rovers fans had written to the Venky’s, the club owners, asking them to consider Kean’s position at the club. So far, Kean has only managed to earn his side
one point courtesy the 1-1 draw against Fulham last weekend.
While Blackburn Rovers managed a draw against Fulham, they lost their opening three games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019. A 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the Carling Cup was not enough to lift their spirits as they remained
in the bottom half of the table.
However, Kean remained optimistic over his side’s chances to improve as the season progressed and dismissed speculation surrounding the club. He admitted his side should have won against the Toffees, but was confident they would do well in the upcoming fixtures.
Kean said in an interview:
“Speculation in the press has just been speculation in the press, not from within the club.
We should have won the game against Everton, and the way we played today showed great spirit.”
As for his relationship with the owners of the club, Kean revealed he was on excellent terms with them. With reports of regular meetings, Kean said he was keeping them up to date with what was going on with the club and that they were satisfied with the
way the players were performing.
Kean revealed:
“I've got fantastic backing from the owners, and I'm in contact with them every day.
They're happy with the way we're playing.”
Kean revealed the owners had been rather helpful and supportive during the summer transfer window, allowing him to bring in reinforcements. With the new arrivals adjusting to the club, Kean was certain it was only a matter of time before their arrival started
to make a difference.
He said:
“We had backing in the window, and have a competitive squad, so we have a squad that will finish in the top half.
It's been a slow start, but we should already have had three or four points on the board before today. We'll stick at it.”
