Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Dunn confident rumours won’t affect skipper Chris Samba
Blackburn Rovers midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Congo-c2875 international’s performance for the Rovers.
Samba has been linked with a host of sides during the summer transfer window, with London sides http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Tottenham Hotspur considered to be leading the race for landing him during the summer. However, there have been no official offers as yet and Blackburn
are reportedly not interested in parting ways with their captain.
Dunn, the 31-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 midfielder, said he was certain the Blackburn Rovers skipper would not let the rumours affect his on-field performance. He also revealed that he did not believe that the stories would affect Samba’s decision about whether or
not he wanted to leave Blackburn Rovers for any other side.
Dunn said while speaking to reporters:
“The good thing with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 is every time he goes on the pitch for us he gives 100 per cent for us.
I don't really read what is said in the papers and what goes on off the pitch doesn't really concern us, as long as he turns up on the Saturday and gives his all for the club then that is all we can ask for.
The rest is in the club's and the individuals hands.”
Samba arrived at Ewood Park in the January transfer window of 2007 on a three and a half year deal for £450,000 from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hertha-BSC-c39521. The Congolese defender got off to a decent start, making 19 appearances in all competitions and managing to score two goals in
the Premier League.
The next season he was awarded with a contract extension, which would keep him at the club until 2012. By his second season at the club Samba had managed to cement his place in the starting XI and had by the end of the 2007-2008 season had made a total of
40 appearances in all competitions, along with three goals.
The versatile defender was made to play as a striker in the 2008-2009 season, when manager Sam Allardyce was suffering from an injury crisis at the club. Samba did well, considering the fact that he was a defender; he made 39 appearances and scored 3 goals
in all competitions that season.
Samba signed a long-term five year contract with Blackburn Rovers as he continued to play an important role for the Rovers. After another convincing season, Samba was appointed captain during one of the fixtures and in the 2010-2011 season was appointed
as the permanent captain, replacing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Nelsen-c31992.
He signed another four and a half year contract extension with the Rovers and continued with his consistent form. Samba made 36 appearances in all competitions for Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 and found the back of the net four times.
