Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Keith-Andrews-c20525 snubs Leeds United to move to Ipswich Town FC
Keith Andrews, the 30-year-old Blackburn Rovers midfielder, has reportedly turned down a move to Championship side Leeds United in favour of a transfer to Ipswich Town FC. After it emerged that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Republic-of-Ireland-c2987 international would be leaving the English
Premier League outfit, a host of Championship sides showed interest in signing him, including Nottingham Forest.
However, it seems Ipswich Town have beaten the other Championship sides to secure the signature of the experienced midfielder. The player’s agent, Will Salthouse, confirmed there were many Championship sides interested in signing his client, including Leeds,
but the player would not be transferring to either of them in the upcoming season.
Salthouse said in an interview:
“Keith won't be coming to Leeds.
Leeds are still interested (in the future), but he just feels there's an opportunity somewhere else and at this moment in time, it's the best opportunity for him.
There may be a change in the future, but at the moment, he won't be coming.”
He revealed that the decision to choose Ipswich Town over Leeds United had been a tight one, but after discussion with the management the player had made up his mind to join Ipswich. At his new club, Andrews expects a new challenge and the opportunity to
further develop. Salthouse said he was certain Andrews had made the right decision in choosing the club he felt comfortable with.
Andrews’ agent continued:
“I had a long chat with Simon (Grayson) and (technical director) Gwyn Williams. It was a close decision, but he won't be joining.
There have been seven or eight of the top Championship clubs interested in him and the decision has been made on the fact that he's found the club where he's comfortable and feels he can develop again.”
Andrews signed with Blackburn Rovers on a three year deal in the summer of 2008 from Milton Keynes Dons on a deal worth an estimated £1 million. His first two seasons at the club saw him make 70 appearances in all competitions and score 5 goals, but last
season he only made five appearances in the Premier League after which he decided it was time to move on.
