Blackburn Rovers owners Venkys against change to the English Premier League format
Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 owners Venkys have denied claims that they are amongst the English Premier League clubs owners who are looking to change the format of the English League. According to reporters, Venkys were amongst the owners who were in favour of ending
relegation.
However, the Indian owners have strongly denied such claims, insisting they were not looking to interfere with the format of the English Premier League. It is still not certain if the team owners have the power to change the format of the league.
With foreign owners growing in number though, there lies a possibility that they could unite to suggest a few changes to the English Premier League. While the other club’s owners have yet to comment on this latest development, Venkys seem to want to steer
clear of any changes.
The statement on Blackburn Rovers official website read:
“In response to recent stories in the media, Venkys wish to clarify its position with regards to the current competition rules of the English Premier League.
Our decision to buy a Premier League Football Club was heavily influenced by the quality, competitiveness and exciting nature of what we believe to be the best league in the world.
We also believe that the EPL's success is, in large parts, down to its ability to create such excitement for all who follow it, fans, players and staff and of course we the Owners.”
Venkys statement on Blackburn Rovers official website seemed to make it clear that they were not looking to influence the format in any way. Instead they were focused on improving the performance of their team in the current Premier League.
It is a well known fact that Blackburn Rovers would be amongst the sides who would benefit from any changes made, since they are currently in terrible form. However, the Indian poultry company insisted they were committed to maintaining the current Premier
League format for the foreseeable future.
The statement concluded:
“We remain fully supportive and committed to the Premier League, its format and its successes and hope to be a part of it for many years to come.”
