Blackburn Rovers striker El-Hadji handed five year ban by Senegal Football Federation
Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Senegal-c3001 by the Senegal Football Federation. The FSF announced their decision in statement on their official website, which has successfully banned
the ill-tempered 30-year-old forward from football in his home country.
The harsh decision by the FSF comes after Diouf made some improper comments about the committee and then failed to show up at the disciplinary hearing. Diouf was heard at a radio channel saying that
“the whole system of African football is corrupt.” It was after these comments that he was called in by the federation, who wanted to question him over his accusations.
However, Diouf did not show up at the hearing and was quoted as saying that he was prepared to “go to war” with the FSF if they pursued the matter further. It is after this that FSF has decided to ban the player
“from performing any football-related activity for a period of five years with effect from the date of notification of this decision.”
Unless the decision is reversed by the FSF, which would only happen if Diouf decides to appear before the committee, this marks an end to his international career. At the same time Diouf is looking for a club after Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean made
it clear he did not want the striker to continue on with the English Premier League side.
The recent incident that sparked Kean’s decision was Diouf’s failure to report for a pre-season training session, for which he was not only fined but also left out of the club’s pre-season tour to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hong-Kong-c2919. While Kean has decided to sell the player, he
still has to wait for suitable offers for the 30-year-old forward.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“I think it's probably the time for El-Hadji. But it will depend on who is interested. It depends on what happens with the offers that come in.”
Diouf joined Blackburn Rovers in the January transfer window of 2009 for an undisclosed fee on a three and a half year deal from Sunderland. During his time at the club, Diouf has made a total of 62 appearances in all competitions and has scored four goals.
His career has been marred by various controversies, the most common being his habit of spitting on spectators and opposition players.
