Yakubu signed with Blackburn Rovers on the deadline day of the summer transfer window on a long term three year deal for an undisclosed fee from Everton. The Nigerian had an injury plagued four year spell with the Toffees, because of which he was loaned out to Championship Leicester City for the latter half of last season, where he went on to make 20 appearances and score 11 goals.
Yakubu revealed he was glad that the Blackburn Rovers manager had showed faith in him and had picked him to start against Arsenal despite his poor record with Everton.
