Blackburn Rovers striker Yakubu confident he can maintain goal scoring form
Ayegbeni Yakubu, the Blackburn Rovers striker, revealed he was confident he would continue scoring goals to bring his side out of the relegation zone. After a terrible start to the season, the Rovers find themselves at the bottom of the league as the Christmas
period approaches.
However, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigeria-c2970 international proved he had what it takes to singlehandedly bring his side out of the bottom three. He showed what he was capable of when he scored four goals in the win over Swansea City last weekend, taking his goal tally to ten this
season.
Yakubu said while speaking to reporters:
“I always believe I can score goals no matter what league I play in. There is a long way to go but I've done it wherever I've played.”
According to the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 player, he was under a lot of pressure to score, which is why he had stepped up and delivered for his side last weekend. Yakubu was certain his side would return to winning ways soon and improve their standing in the league.
He revealed:
“I had a lot of pressure from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Samba in the week to score.
Putting pressure on players to perform is great and if we keep fighting like this we will be fine.”
After being on loan to Championship side Leicester City for half a season, Yakubu decided to leave Everton for Blackburn Rovers on a more permanent move. He joined on a three year deal on an undisclosed fee and was an instant hit with manager Steve Kean.
So far Yakubu has made 11 appearances this season in all competitions and has scored 10 goals, making for very impressive statistics. If Blackburn Rovers actually stand a chance of improving their position in the league, Yakubu will have a huge role to play
in their resurgence.
Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 travel to the Stadium of Light to take on a struggling Sunderland over the weekend and have a very good opportunity of scoring back to back wins. Sunderland recently sacked their manager Steve Bruce and replaced him with former Aston Villa
boss Martin O’Neill.
